The Awakening
Took another 50-minute walk to hospital again today, and here's the verdict:
CAT trumps Clarke's !! (Sorry dad)
I had swollen feet yesterday, and today the pair of CAT were cushioning my raw, oedematous, tender feet like a test tube in a bed of feathers.
And another thing .. incidental finding. I met 2 other medical students (locals) here, who were SO NICE. Fiona and Chris .. they brought me around hospital, and told me of places to go, and Fiona even knew I could get extremely lonely being on my own (She went to Croatia for electives last year). So yeah, things are picking up somewhat, especially in hospital. And what's more, the pair of them brought me to the student library in hospital where I'm now typing my heart out. =)
Shame to see that our own people aren't friendlier eh? Then again .. the average youth on the street aren't either. Maybe it's just that professional bonding we have. It's nice. And thanks to Prof Sin FL, I managed to blurt out one of the causes of young hypertension as Cushing Disease. =p
Anyway, anyone in Ortho right now? I have a problem.
23/M/Chi
PHx:
Wenckebach Dx 2003
Now P/W:
(L) ankle pain, decreased range of motion limited by pain
(R) calf pain on walking, pain radiates up to the gluteals
Pain came on as a result of persistent standing and long-distance walking.
Dx??
OK, please dont' tell me things like (L) Charcot's joints and (R) lumbosacral radiculopathy, Rx: bilateral below-hit amputation, 8000mg aspirin STAT, 10000mg fluoxetine TDS.
Gah .. going quite mad. It's just that I'm probably taking a break today, as advised by Fiona and Chris. =) Nice to see the same culture with the overseas students too! And Chris was eyeing me suspiciously and I had to admit that I was here primarily for holidays, muahahahahaha. He's a sharp one, that guy.
Oh yes, and breakfast was good. Nice timing - breakfast at 7.45 am, finish at 7.55am, walk to hospital and reach 8.45am, clinics start 9am (9.15 am to be precise). It consisted of eggs, sausages, pancakes, yogurt (again), fresh frui juice, cereals and milk, and the usual servings of fruits and veggies.
OH SHIT I JUST REMEMBERED!!! I stuffed a banana into my bag and it's still there!!! OK, better go and look for food now, maybe walk to the University itself. Apparently the med school building is only 20 mins' walk from here, and I can use the library. Nice, more books!!
Trust me, I'm not a bookworm. It's just the best I can manage here. =p
Later then!
